HC Deb 04 April 1949 vol 463 cc161-2W
47. Mr. W. R. Williams

asked the Lord President of the Council whether, in view of the fact that the Central Office of Information proposes to enlarge considerably the present list of subjects covered by its lecture service, he will again consider re-instating the United Nations in the list.

Mr. H. Morrison

The Central Office is not proposing to widen the list of themes on which it provides speakers, but only to give more detailed talks about particular aspects of the economic theme. Modifications in the subjects must be made from time to time in the light of the circumstances obtaining. Lectures on the United Nations were given over a period of 18 months from September, 1946—March, 1948. I do not think that the United Nations is a subject which qualifies at present for a place in the list.
