HC Deb 21 September 1948 vol 456 cc62-3W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, in view of the fact that the Civil Service Selection Board at Stoke D'Abernon contains a total staff of 49 people to deal with candidates who arrive in intakes of not more than than 24, he will consider the reorganisation of the Board with a view to more economic administration.

Mr. Glenvil Hall

As the hon. Member is doubtless aware, the Select Committee on Estimates, in their recent Report on the Civil Service Commission, made certain recommendations with a view to reducing the cost of the Civil Service Selection Board as soon as conditions permit. The Commissioners are now considering what steps can be taken to give effect to the Select Committee's recommendations.
