§ 69. Mr. Skinnardasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is the estimated return to the Sierra Leone Government from Income Tax payments by mining companies operating in Sierra Leone; and whether there are any agreements still existing which prevent the collection of a satisfactory return to the local exchequer.
Mr. Creech JonesThere is one agreement under which the company pays a 27½per cent. Profits Tax and is not liable to Sierra Leone Income Tax. As regards the first part of the Question, I am consulting the Governor and will communicate with my hon. Friend when his reply is received.
