Major Lloydasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what amount of sterling has so far this year been confiscated by the Customs service from people taking more than the permitted £5 out of the country; and what amount has been taken from incoming visitors.
§ Mr. Glenvil HallThe total amounts taken from travellers, including ships' and aircraft crews who are not entitled to the £5 sterling note export/import exemption, during the period 1st January to 31st October, 1948, were £86,731 from outgoing travellers and £73,566 from incoming travellers.
