HC Deb 04 November 1948 vol 457 c104W
85. Mr. Prescott

asked the Minister of Education how he has applied Section 15, Subsection 2, of the Education Act, 1944, with regard to aided denominational sections; and what percentage of the cost of reconstruction he requires that managers shall have in hand.

Mr. Tomlinson

Each application under Section 15 (2) of the Education Act, 1944, for an order directing that a school shall be an aided school is considered in the light of the estimated liabilities of the managers under Section 15 (3) (a) of the Act, the assets they have in hand or promised, any evidence furnished of their past experience in raising money and the measure of financial support undertaken by the diocesan authorities or other bodies. Managers are not required to have in hand at the date of their application any fixed percentage of the cost of reconstruction. They are expected to provide evidence that they have a reasonable prospect of meeting their liabilities when the time comes for the reconstruction to be carried out in accordance with the Development Plan for the area.
