HC Deb 02 November 1948 vol 457 cc62-3W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Minister of Health how many alien medical practitioners and dental practitioners, respectively, have been admitted to practice in this country since 1st January, 1948; and how many persons from both these classes have been admitted to service in the National Health Service since its inauguration.

Mr. Bevan

The number of medical practitioners enabled to practise in this country by virtue of registration in the foreign list of the Medical Register under the Medical Practitioners and Pharmacists Act, 1947, since 1st January last is 932, of whom all but 85 had previously been temporarily registered. The number of dental practitioners registered in the foreign list of the Dentists' Register this year is 37. I regret that the information asked for in the second part of the Question is not available.
