§ Mr. G. R. StraussIt is expected that the salvage of the Pluto pipelines will be completed by the end of this year. By 31st March, 1948, about 225 miles had been recovered at a cost of about£315,000. The salvaged pipeline contained lead and steel of an estimated value of£400,000; about three-quarters of it had been sold at that date for£299,000.
