§ 84. Mr. Edelmanasked the Minister of Transport what consideration he has given to the question of introducing legislation to amend the first schedule of the Road Traffic Act, 1934, in order to provide for a maximum speed limit of 30 m.p.h. instead of the present 20 m.p.h. for heavy goods vehicles using pneumatic tyres.
§ Mr. BarnesAs my hon. Friend is aware, I wrote to representative organisations on 8th March explaining the consideration I had given to this matter and conveying proposals made in the light of previous consultations with manufacturers, operators, and trades unions. Further consideration must await the replies.
