asked the President of the Board of Trade the general level of prices for shoe repairs soled and heeled with best materials since he made his recent orders.

Under the Footwear Repairs (Maximum Charges) Order 1948 (S.I. 1948 No. 227) the maximum charges for shoe repairs are either the cash amounts set out in the schedule to the order or are related to the August, 1939, charges of the repairer who does the work. As charges varied very widely before the war, it is not possible to state any general level of prices at the present time.
