§ THE EARL OF LISTOWELThe Minister of Transport is advised that there is866WA no provision in the general law empowering highway authorities to construct and maintain cattle grids in public roads. One county council in England has sought such power by a private Bill promoted this Session, and the Minister intends to ask Parliament to confer the power on highway authorities generally, when a suitable opportunity for the amendment of highway law presents itself.
