HC Deb 01 July 1948 vol 452 cc224-5W
19. Mr. Touche

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that some local authorities are using grants which they receive for houses built for agricultural workers for the purpose of reducing rents generally; and whether he will make it a condition of such a subsidy that it will only be used to reduce the rents for agricultural workers.

Mr. Bevan

The answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes." As to the second part, I have no power to impose any such conditions.

20. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Health the number of cottages completed to 1st June, 1948, and occupied by agricultural workers in the counties of Worcester, Devon, Kent and Sussex; and the total number completed and occupied throughout this country.

Mr. Bevan

I regret I cannot add to the figures published in the Housing Return.
