§ Mr. Blackburnasked the Minister of National Insurance what procedure is being adopted to recruit additional staff for the National Insurance scheme, and whether in this connection he will consult with the Friendly Societies, to ensure that no undue difficulties will be placed in their way in consequence of the transfer of staff from such societies to the National Scheme.
§ Mr. J. GriffithsAdditional staff for the National Insurance scheme is being obtained from among those engaged on Approved Society work; from those who will be redundant should the National Assistance Bill become law; from the normal competitions conducted by the Civil Service Commission; and from other Government Departments. The arrangements for the release of selected candidates from employment by Friendly Societies are being made in accordance with recommendations of a Committee on which the societies were fully represented.
