§ Mr. Cooper-Keyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that since the 9th November, 1946, his Department has been repeatedly requested to facilitate the journey to this country of Edmund Fessemeyer, for the purpose of marrying his fiancée in this 89W country; and that the Dusseldorf officials have now refused to grant this man a permit to come to England; what are the reasons for this refusal; and whether he will grant immediate facilities for his fiancée to join Mr. Fessemeyer in Germany.
Mr. McNeilMy hon. Friend has already been informed that the delay in this case was due to Herr Fessemeyer's failure to produce the necessary documents. I have now heard that Herr Fessemeyer was granted exit facilities on 8th January. The authorities in Germany have been notified by the Home Office that he can be granted a visa for the United Kingdom. He should, therefore, experience no further difficulty.
