HC Deb 10 February 1948 vol 447 c41W
88. Mr. Ross

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will consider the necessity for taking action to bring wholesale dealings in non-prepacked foodstuffs within the purview of the Sale of Food (Weights and Measures) Act, 1926, and thus provide protection for retailers against short weight in such articles.

Mr. Bottomley

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given on 20th January to my hon. Friend the Member for South Tottenham (Mr. Messer). When a general inquiry into weights and measures legislation is made, it will include the consideration of its application to the wholesale supply of food.
