HC Deb 10 February 1948 vol 447 c39W
82. Commander Maitland

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the shortage of wool suitable for hand knitting into stockings and socks for men; and what steps he proposes to take to increase the supply.

Mr. Bottomley

I have no information of the proportion of hand knitting wool supplies which is suitable for stockings and socks for men as distinct from other purposes. As regards total supplies of hand knitting yarn, I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer given on 29th January to my hon. Friend the Member for Accrington (Mr. Scott-Elliot).
