§ 65. Major Beamishasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether His Majesty's Government is now in receipt of information regarding the strengths, training and equipment of the Bulgarian, Roumanian and Hungarian military and semi-military units and organisations from the Governments in question; and what explanation has been given by these Governments of their failure to comply with the terms of the Peace Treaties or of the considerable delay that has occurred in furnishing this important information.
Mr. McNeilThe Roumanian Government have informed us that the competent authorities have been instructed to collect the required information. The Bulgarian and Hungarian Governments have expressed the view that, under the terms of the Peace Treaties, requests for information in connection with the execution of those treaties should be made to them by the Heads of the Diplomatic Missions of the United States, the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union, acting in concert. His Majesty's Representatives have been instructed to contest this interpretation of the relevant clauses. The Soviet Representatives in the two capitals are being invited to join in requesting the two ex-enemy Governments to provide this information.
