§ 92. Sir A. Herbertasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations whether, having regard to the terms of the British North America Act, 1867, the undertakings given by the United Kingdom in 1933–34, and the recent referenda in Newfoundland, His Majesty's Government will now introduce a Bill to restore self-government to Newfoundland, so that this Dominion may decide her future, whether by way of confederation with Canada or otherwise, through her own elected Parliament and Government.
§ Mr. P. Noel-BakerNo. As was said in the King's Speech at the opening of the present Session, His Majesty's Government intend to introduce a Bill to provide for the confederation of Newfoundland with Canada in accordance with the Agreement which has just been concluded between representatives of Newfoundland and of the Canadian Government.
