§ 81. Mr. G. Williamsasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies under what rule or practice junior officers of either sex in the Colonial Service may not be appointed to serve in the colonial territory in which they have been born or previously resided for any substantial period; and whether he can give particulars and reasons for such discrimination.
Mr. Creech JonesThere is no such rule; in fact, the great majority of posts in the Civil Service of each territory are held by persons of local origin. If the hon. Member has some particular case in mind, perhaps he will send me details and I will make inquiries about it.
