§ 67. Colonel Crosthwaite-Eyreasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer since no meeting of the National Investment Council has been held since October, 1947, what function this Council now performs.
§ Sir S. CrippsDuring the past year there have been important changes in the26W organisation of the scrutiny and control of the investment programme, including the institution of the Planning Board. Thus the main purpose for which this Advisory Council was set up is being achieved in other ways. I have accordingly come to the conclusion that it is no longer necessary to summon this Council and I have written to each of the members suggesting that it should be discontinued.
