40. Mr. Cooper-Key

asked the Minister of Health whether he is satisfied that the interests of the public and patients are sufficiently safeguarded by the provisions of Section 74 of the Lunacy Act, 1890.

I am satisfied that, in general, the safeguards provided by the Section in question are adequate. But in view of a recent case to which the hon. Member has drawn attention, the point has been noted for consideration when amending legislation is undertaken.
