Graham-Littleasked the Minister of Education if he will inquire into the case, details of which have been submitted to him, of an ex-Service man invalided from the Services in 1945, who, a year ago, took an appointment as a temporary teacher and now wishes to achieve the status of qualified teacher, but has been unable to secure a vacancy in an emergency or other training college for the training which has been accorded to temporary teachers wishing to improve their status; and if he will rectify this position.
§ Mr. G. TomlinsonThe candidate about whom the hon. Member has written to me applied for admission to the Emergency Teacher Training Scheme, but was not considered suitable for training under that scheme. The selection of candidates for admission to training colleges, other than emergency colleges, is a matter for the authorities of each college and I cannot properly seek to influence them in their choice.
