HC Deb 26 April 1948 vol 450 c11W
83. Sir Wavell Wakefield

asked the Minister of Food why the price to fish-paste manufacturers of cases of salmon has recently been raised from 73s. per case to 93s. 6d. per case, in view of the Government's policy of price reduction.

Dr. Summerskill

This increase in the price of imported canned salmon to manufacturers, which was initiated before the announcement of Government price policy, was part of a general revision of canned fish prices to accord with current costs and was adopted to avoid loss to the Ministry.
