asked the Minister of Labour the number of ex-Service men who have received instruction under the various training schemes and the number placed in employment during the years 1946 and 1947, respectively.

Vocational Training Scheme.
Trained. Placed in Training Trade.*

* Others, of whom a record is not kept, obtained employment in other trades.

Business Training Scheme.
1946 2,280 entered training
1947 4,110 entered training

Most of these are still training with individual firms, having completed their initial course. None, with two or three exceptions, who have completed training are out of employment.

Further Education and Training Scheme.
1946 34,120 grants awarded
1947 44,500 grants awarded
Nearly all of these are still in training.
