§ Mr. T. WilliamsNine newly appointed veterinary surgeons took up duty in a temporary capacity in the Animal Health Division of the Ministry during 1947. A further 16 were recruited into permanent appointments as a result of the competition held in the autumn of 1947, although they did not actually take up duty until98W early in 1948. Seventy-two officers already serving in the Ministry in a temporary capacity during 1947, including four of the nine previously mentioned, obtained permanent appointments from the same competition.
