§ 105. Mr. Medlandasked the Minister of Labour the number of men under training in the training centres for ex-Service men especially built and completed since the war, and the number of officials and servants employed in these centres on 20th September, 1947.
§ Mr. IsaacsThe number of men in training on 22nd September in the 23 Government training centres which have58W been specially built and are now substantially complete had fallen to 3,615 owing to the suspension of recruitment for training. Four of these centres are now in process of being closed. On this date the number of staff still remained nominally at 2,470 owing to the period of time required for the expiration of redundancy notices.
§ 106. Mr. Medlandasked the Minister of Labour the number of training centres for ex-Service men now redundant as a result of the decision to cease intake, and whether the offer of the use of these premises will be made to local and education authorities, particularly in badly-bombed areas.
§ Mr. IsaacsThe number of training centres likely to become redundant is about 19. The question of the use to which these premises will be put in future is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Minister of Works.
