HC Deb 27 November 1947 vol 444 cc313-4W
103. Mr. Parkin

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will now make a statement about the renewal of trade negotiations with the Soviet Union.

Mr. H. Wilson

Yes, as has been previously stated, His Majesty's Government are willing for their part to resume the trade negotiations as soon as a reasonable basis for resumption can be found. When that point has been reached, I am prepared to visit Moscow at short notice, but in the meantime it is felt by both Governments that further discussions should first take place through diplomatic channels. These discussions are now proceeding.
