HC Deb 24 November 1947 vol 444 c253W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Transport what steps he is taking to get priority supplies for the London Passenger Transport Board in order to keep their buses on the road, particulars of which have been sent to him.

Mr. Callaghan

In co-operation with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Supply I am employing a number of methods to get adequate supplies of spares for public service vehicles, but the position is more than usually difficult, since 50 per cent. of London's buses are more than 10 years old. I should like to express appreciation of the ingenuity and skill of the L.P.T.B. staff in keeping their fleet serviceable.
