HC Deb 19 November 1947 vol 444 c196W
Brigadier Mackeson

asked the Minister of Works how many civil servants are still engaged in assessing the value of iron railings taken for scrap during the war; and by what process the assessment of value is reached.

Mr. Key

Twenty-one civil servants are at present engaged, in a full-time capacity, in negotiating compensation settlements for gates and railings requisitioned during the wartime scrap campaigns. The basis of assessment of compensation is that provided by paragraph 4 of Defence Regulation 50B.
