§ 23. Sir W. Smithersasked the Minister of Transport to state in convenient categories the amount of empty cargo space in ships leaving Britain since 1st January, 1947, to the latest available date.
§ Mr. CallaghanTable 114 of the "Monthly Digest of Statistics" shows the tonnage of ships cleared from United Kingdom ports with cargo and in ballast for each month. The latest issue for October, gives the monthly figures for 1947 till the end of September. It is not possible to say how many of the ships sailing with cargo had space to spare.
