HC Deb 17 November 1947 vol 444 cc131-2W
47. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Agriculture if the accounts of county war agricultural executive committees are subject to audit; whether they are open for inspection by the public; and to what person or body of persons criticisms and appeals may be directed.

Mr. T. Williams

The accounts of the county war agricultural executive committees form part of the accounts of my Department and, as such, are subject to audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General. The detailed accounts are not available for public inspection but the total payments and receipts by, or on behalf of, all committees are shown in the annual volumes of Civil Appropriation Accounts. Representations by members of the general public on matters of day to day administration should be addressed to the executive officer of the committee concerned, but communications by hon. Members on Committee matters, except where information of a purely factual nature is sought, should be addressed to me.
