HC Deb 17 November 1947 vol 444 c132W
59. Mr. Donner

asked the Minister of Agriculture how many D4 caterpillar tractors have been imported into the United Kingdom during the last 12 months; how many have been allocated to agriculture and, separately, to timber haulage, etc.; and if those allocated to agriculture have been allocated direct to farmers or to the war agricultural executive committees.

Mr. T. Williams

Sixty caterpillar D4 tractors were imported during the twelve months ended 31st October last. Twenty-three of these went to argriculture, of which 20 were distributed to farmers and agricultural contractors, two to the tractor service of the Department of Agriculture for Scotland, and one to a research institute. I will arrange for details of the distribution of the remainder between Departments to be printed in the OFFICIAL REPORT, but information about their end use is not readily available.
