HC Deb 11 November 1947 vol 444 c43W
Mr. Blackburn

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that one of the consequences of banning foreign travel outside the sterling area has been to stimulate a demand for pleasure travel to places within the Empire such as Cyprus, Malta and South Africa; and whether he intends to consider imposing any limitation on such travel or on the amount of money which can be expended for the purpose of petrol to provide the necessary air transport.

Mr. Dalton

There may be some increase in travel to these places, despite the distances involved, but I do not propose to interfere with it at present.
