HC Deb 03 November 1947 vol 443 cc139-40W
26. Mr. Gooch

asked the Minister of Food if he will allow to British farm workers the same food rations as are available to foreign workers now engaged on British farms.

Dr. Summerskill

British farm workers receive exactly the same rations as foreign workers working under similar conditions.

Mr. Baker White

asked the Minister of Food whether in view of the decision of the Government to issue 700,000 ex-Service food packs each of 126 points value to miners, it is proposed to make a similar issue to farm workers as the primary producers of food.

Mr. Strachey

There were only 700,000 service food packs available and I regret that there are not enough to issue to farm workers and other heavy workers.
