HC Deb 03 November 1947 vol 443 cc166-7W
115. Mr. Lever

asked the Minister of Works the amount of building licences granted in respect of 96, Piccadilly, W.1; to whom the licence was granted; and for what purpose.

Mr. Key

During 1945 and 1946 licences totalling some £7,500 were granted to Messrs. Higgins and Partners and the Turriff Construction Corporation Ltd., for war damage repairs, reinstatement after derequisitioning and alterations to provide office accommodation on the upper floors. Three licences have been granted this year to Messrs. Kenaldo Ltd. in respect of 96, Piccadilly, W.1. The first licence for £4,500 was granted on the recommendation of the Ministry of Food for essential work necessary to make the ground floor and basement fit for use as a restaurant. The second licence for £3,050 was granted for the ventilation system to meet the requirements of the London County Council, and for marble and stone work which was of a specialist nature. The third licence for £4,200 was granted on the recommendation of the Ministry of Fuel and Power for the installation of an oil fired heating system.
