§ Mr. Sharpasked the Secretary of State for War why the field occupied by his Department at Mirfield, Yorkshire, and bounded on the north side by Knowle Road and on the east side by Crowther Road, has been allowed to deteriorate from good pasture land to land full of thistles and weeds; why there has been similar neglect as regards the walls. fences and gates; and what action he proposes taking to restore the land to its former condition.

§ Mr. BellengerI am grateful to my hon. Friend for bringing this matter to my notice. The field comprising 1.8 acres was acquired by the Territorial Army in 1937 but was not required for any purpose during the war. A small unit of the Territorial Army is forming in Mirfield, and I expect the field will be required for Territorial Army use. In the interim period, I hope to arrange for essential repair work to be carried out.
