§ 96. Sir I. Fraser
asked the Minister of Agriculture if he will give financial and other encouragement to experiments at Government research farms or elsewhere to the breeding, culture and growing of tobacco plants which suit the British climate.
§ Mr. T. Williams
Owing to the present shortage of scientific workers and the limited nature of the facilities available, research and experimental work on242W tobacco growing could only be carried out at the expense of similar work on food crops; and this would not in my view be justified.
