§ Mr. de FreitasSix men who were employed as assistant groundsmen at Waterbeach by the Air Ministry works department became redundant when the work of keeping the airfield in good condition was handed over to a contractor. This kind of work is frequently put out to agricultural contractors, who can make good use of the grass they cut from airfields. These contracts enable the contractors, who are often farmers as well, to work over a wide area and to use their labour to the best advantage at all times.
