§ 28. Sir R. Youngasked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware of the many complaints by residents of Padgate, Lancashire, at the use of a loud electric siren at the R.A.F. station there which disturbs the sleep of aged people and night workers; and, if the siren is not absolutely necessary, if he will direct that less sonorous time signals be used for R.A.F. purposes at Padgate.
§ Mr. P. Noel-BakerYes, Sir. I have given instructions that the siren at the R.A.F. station at Padgate shall not be used as a time signal. In future, it will serve only as an alarm signal in case of fire or other emergency. I am grateful to my hon. Friend for calling attention to the matter.
