§ 100. Mr. Tiffanyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if the reports submitted to him concerning the Bulgarian elections have now been investigated; by whom and on what date was such an investigation made; and was the Bulgarian Minister of the Interior approached on this matter.
Mr. McNeilThe reports received by my right hon. Friend regarding the Bulgarian elections and pre-electoral period came from many sources, official and unofficial. They were examined and compared by His Majesty's Government after the elections had taken place, and led to the conclusion that the conduct of the elections was not in keeping with the spirit and intentions of the Yalta Declaration. The Bulgarian Government were so informed in a Note addressed to them on nth February. No approach was made to the Bulgarian Minister of the Interior.
