Mr. Ellis Smithasked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he will at once call together the competent authorities who proposed the Severn Barrage Hydroelectric scheme, and the civil engineers, with a directive to start the construction as soon as possible, to ask for anti-Nazi and anti-Fascist engineers to co-operate in carrying out the construction of the Severn Hydro-electric scheme, and to assist in the preparation of others, as part of our reparation payments.
§ Mr. ShinwellNo, Sir. As I informed my hon. Friend the Member for Huntingdon (Mr. Renton) on 10th February, I am arranging for a tidal model of the Severn Barrage Scheme to be constructed as soon as facilities are available. This is a necessary preliminary to further consideration of the scheme.
