Mr. Jannerasked the Minister of Transport whether, in order to ensure less strain on drivers and on the wear and tear of public vehicles in future spells of snowy weather and bad road conditions, he will request local authorities in big towns to make every effort to clear the roads of melting snow before it can turn into icy ridges, as happened in the recent spell.
§ Mr. G. R. StraussI am confident that the large urban authorities are fully alive to the point raised by my hon. Friend and have done everything possible to mitigate the effects of recent conditions, which have been quite exceptional.
