HC Deb 12 March 1947 vol 434 c212W
123. Major Poole

asked the Secretary of State for War on what grounds he justifies the withholding of the old rates of pay from T/5046839 Corporal J. T. Davies, since this man volunteered for further service on 28th April, 1946, and was not called up until 4th July, 1946, solely because of Departmental delay.

Mr. J. Freeman

I am glad to say that it has been decided to give cases such as this—where a soldier made a written application to rejoin the Colours but was unable to do so through no fault of his own until after the introduction of the new pay code on 1st July, 1946—the benefit of the war excess rules which apply to soldiers who were serving on 3oth June and continued to serve without a break in service.
