HC Deb 12 March 1947 vol 434 c201W
99. Mr. Wilkins

asked the Secretary of State for Air what decision has been reached by his Department with regard to postage payable on mail sent by R.A.F. personnel serving with the India Command to England; what rate is proposed to be charged; and for what reason is the charge to be made.

Mr. P. Noel-Baker

My hon. Friend will appreciate that the postal rates on mail sent home by the Royal Air Force in India are a matter for the Government of India. At present the postal concessions granted by the Government of India in 1945 are still in force. These concessions allow air mail letters weighing up to one ounce, and surface mail letters up to two ounces, to be sent home free.
