asked the Minister of Food on what basis is the fat for fried fish shops allocated; if he is aware that smaller shopkeepers feel they are not receiving a fair share; and if he will have the matter investigated and make a statement.

Fat is allocated to fish fryers on a datum basis, which ensures that all the traders in a given area receive the same percentage of their prewar usage. The percentage is modified in accordance with population changes, and increased supplies are to be made available to areas subject to heavy unemployment before the war.
