HC Deb 11 March 1947 vol 434 c150W
48 Mr. Osborne

asked the Chancellor at the Exchequer if he is aware that during 1946 £52,000,000 was spent on importing 16,500,000 cwt. of fruit against £37,000,000 on 42,000,000 cwt. of fruit in 1938; and if he will inquire into the possibility of using this money instead on animal feedingstuffs.

Mr. Dalton

My right hon. Friend, the Minister of Food, buys all the feedingstuffs he can. The fruit supplies in 1946 were, m my view, well worth having.
