HC Deb 04 March 1947 vol 434 c30W
32. Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware that agriculture is not accepted as part of the leaving certificate group for students wishing to enter a Scottish university; and, in view of the great importance of agriculture, whether he will take steps to ensure that a student who has qualified in agriculture during his school course will be able to count this subject as one recognised for purposes of attestation by the Scottish Universities Entrance Board.

Mr. Westwood

The regulations governing entrance to the Scottish universities are the responsibility of the Scottish Universities Entrance Board, but I have suggested to the Board that consideration should be given to the acceptance for entrance purposes of a pass in agriculture in the senior leaving certificate.
