Mr. Ungoed-Thomasasked the Minister of Food in view of the decision made as a result of his representations to give priority for the immediate erection of a cold store at Southampton, with a 6,000 tons capacity, at a cost of £250,000, what use is to be made of the cold store at Cardiff, with a 10,000 tons capacity; and why he has hitherto refused to use it.
§ Dr. SummerskillCold storage space is urgently required in Southampton and the new building is needed to replace one which was destroyed there during the war. The provision of the Government cold store at Cardiff was mainly a war time measure, but it is still being used as circumstances warrant.
