§ Mr. TomlinsonIn January, 1947, the latest date for which returns are available, the number of nursery schools maintained by local education authorities was 353; the number of registered pupils at these schools was 18,173. In addition there were 17 grant-aided nursery schools under voluntary management, with 875 pupils. Figures relating to nursery classes are not vet available.
