§ Sir W. Smithersasked the Secretary of State for Air, why permission was refused to Mr. and Mrs. Whale, Edencroft, 121W Sutherland Avenue, Petts Wood, to attend the funeral of their son, Flight Lieutenant Watkins, in Germany, especially in view of the fact that they were prepared to go at their own expense.
§ Mr. de FreitasI regret that we cannot at present allow relatives from this country, whether or not they are able to bear the expense, to attend funerals in Germany. I have gone into this matter with the other Ministers who are concerned with the occupation but we cannot find a fair and workable scheme.
