§ Mr. Hollisasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty what is the policy of His Majesty's Government concerning the granting to Merchant Navy cadets of commissions in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Mr. DugdaleAs I intimated in my reply to the hon. and learned Member for St. Ives (Mr. Beechman) on 14th May last, the future organisation and functions of the Royal Naval Reserve are still under active consideration and no entries are being made at present. I therefore regret that I am not yet in a position to make any statement on the granting of commissions in this Reserve.
